Polls on WordPress: create them without leaving your site

Connect your site in one click, create and edit polls without leaving WordPress and show them with the free widget. What the plugin does and what Pro adds.

Local media, councils and associations mostly publish on WordPress. Until a few days ago, putting a GloboPoll poll there took several technical steps, and a paid plan. Not any more: the widget is free, the site connects in one click, and polls are created and edited without leaving WordPress.

The plugin is called GloboPoll and we are sending it to the wordpress.org directory, whose review takes a few weeks. Meanwhile, write to us and we will send it to you.

The widget is free

The widget is the poll people vote on inside your site. It used to be the main reason to pay for the Pro plan. Now every account has it, on any website: WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace or hand-written HTML.

The Free plan includes:

The widget always carries the “Poll by GloboPoll” footer and shows the count per option. The detailed results are on the page of the poll on GloboPoll.

Connect the site in one click

Once the plugin is installed, Settings → GloboPoll has a button: “Connect to GloboPoll”.

  1. Your browser goes to GloboPoll with the address of your site. Nothing is stored yet.
  2. You sign in, or create your account if you do not have one. If your account lives on another country site, the same page lets you pick it.
  3. You choose the account and accept. The page tells you exactly what will happen.
  4. You are back in WordPress and the connection completes on its own.

When you accept, GloboPoll creates a dedicated key for that site with limited permissions: read your account, list, create and edit your polls, and manage the authorized sites. It does not read votes or results. You see it under “API and webhooks” as “WordPress · your site” and can revoke it any time, from GloboPoll or with “Disconnect” in WordPress.

The key never travels in the URL. GloboPoll sends your browser back with a one-time code, and your WordPress exchanges it by talking to GloboPoll directly, with a cryptographic challenge (PKCE) that proves it started the flow. The code expires in ten minutes.

Create and edit polls from WordPress

With the site connected, GloboPoll → Polls appears in the WordPress menu. It lists the polls of your account, with their state and votes, and has the “New poll” button.

The form creates the three kinds people use most: single choice, multiple choice (with a minimum and a maximum of options) and Yes / No. For each one you choose:

The “GloboPoll poll” block has the same form under “Create a new poll”: you create the poll while writing the post, and the block ends up pointing at it.

The other kinds (rating, ranking, points, pairwise comparison, tournaments and questionnaires), the cover and the images of the options have their editor on GloboPoll. Every poll in the list has an “Edit on GloboPoll” link.

Everything is reviewed

GloboPoll reviews every poll before it is published, including the ones created from WordPress. That keeps spam out of its public catalogue.

Pro accounts go first in the queue.

Show a poll

  1. The “GloboPoll poll” block lists the polls of your account: pick one, the theme and the width, and see the preview.
  2. The shortcode [globopoll slug="my-poll"], for the classic editor, Elementor and other page builders. The list of polls copies it for you.
  3. Paste the public URL of a poll on its own line in the editor. Nothing to connect.

If your site is not authorized for a poll yet, visitors see a card with the question and a “Vote on GloboPoll” button instead of a blank frame.

Free and Pro

The plugin shows how many polls you have in use: “2 of 3 active polls”. At the limit, you can close one or upgrade to Pro.

The price of Pro does not change. It adds what people who use GloboPoll every day need:

“Upgrade to Pro” opens the GloboPoll checkout for your account, in your country's currency and taxes, and brings you back to WordPress. There is no payment inside WordPress: your site never sees your card.

What the plugin does not do

It publishes nothing on its own: every poll is reviewed first. It stores no polls or votes in the database of your WordPress: they live in your GloboPoll account, and they are still there if you change site. It adds no tracking either: the visitor's browser loads the widget from GloboPoll.

If you already had the plugin

Update to version 1.3.0. Sites that are already connected get the permission to create polls without connecting again.

If you do not use GloboPoll yet, here is a poll to try it with:

Vote in the poll: «Do you use artificial intelligence tools in your daily life?»
